Amazing finale!! I’m sooo happy Jeanine won America’s favorite dancer! She is extremely talented and it was about time that a girl won! Also pleased about Brandon getting 2nd, he was my 2nd favorite so I’m very happy about the results. Not sure how I feel about Evan beating out Kayla for 3rd.. but whatever I’m just happy Jeanine won! Purchased my tix to see the show in NH since the Boston date would interfere with school and stuff. I thought the finale night was awesome and loved seeing all of my old favorite dances INCLUDING Mad with Philip!
My favorite dance from this week was none other than Jeanine and Brandon’s Paso Doble. Check it out!
So I didn’t end up posting any videos from this past week.. so here’s a couple of my favs.
The first is a contemporary danced by Kayla & Brandon. Am I the only one who thinks they should have been paired together sooner..? (Dance starts at 1:19)
Next is Jeanine & Ade’s hip hop which I loved of course. Why isn’t Ade in the finale again? (Dance starts at 2:01)
That’s all for now, enjoy! Get pumped for next week’s finale!
Missed a week of updating.. sorry about that. Just wanted to write an immediate reaction to this week’s elimination show! I can’t believe the finale is already next week.
Soo pumped for Jeanine, Brandon, & Kayla making it to the finale. However.. even though I like Evan, Ade should have been chosen for the finale. Ade has been so strong and he’s amazing at every style that is thrown at him. I’ll hate not seeing him perform next week.. but as long as Jeanine wins I’ll be more than happy!! More later!!
Not too disappointed about the results this week.. Randi & Kupono are now eliminated. I thought America nailed it for the bottom 2 girls.. however, Ade and Kupono for the bottom 2 boys? I guess I agree with Kupono being there, however I think Evan deserved a spot in the bottom 2 this week and I actually think he should have been sent home instead of Kupono. Next week I hope to see Melissa and Evan get the boot. Melissa is good, but she is a bit boring to me in my opinion and the other 3 girls are just amazing.
As for my favorite dance this week- Jason and Jeanine’s contemporary to “If It Kills Me”. AMAZING. Loved every second of it! I was shocked because as you all know by now I was a diehard Philip and Jeanine fan and couldn’t stand Jason. However, I think Jason really proved himself this week and I think he and Jeanine had great chemistry together. Check it out for yourselves!
Okay so now that I’ve cooled off a bit about Phillip, I suppose I can sort of understand why he did not win this competition. There ARE guys (such as Brandon <3) who can adapt to every style better than Phillip. HOWEVER, Phillip has never had any professional training and he is still an amazing dancer regardless and in my opinion he should have at least made it to the top 10. I mean come on, is it only me that thinks Jason should have gotten the boot this week instead..? Am I wrong? At least Phillip WILL be on the tour.. but it’s just not the same. It’s still upsetting seeing one of my favorites kicked off.. especially before the top 10.
My favorites that still remain are Kayla, Jeanine, and my newest favorite Brandon. Over the weeks I have developed a love for his dancing and I think he is amazing. Janette and Ade are awesome as well and they are a close second for my favorites. Next week will be interesting seeing all of the couples split up however.. I’m going to hate not seeing Phillip & Jeanine together ever again! :[
Since it's been awhile since I've written a good post, I'll share not one but TWO videos this week. :]
The first is from Wednesday night.. Kayla & Kupono’s contemporary dance to “Gravity”. Absolutely phenomenal in my opinion and my favorite dance of the night!
Next, another Kayla & Kupono contemporary from a couple weeks ago. Another one of my favs. Love the song from Twilight!
That’s all for now.. hope you enjoyed! I’ll try to update more frequently now that it’s top 10!
Been awhile since my last update. Don’t have much time to write since I’m going out to lunch in a few but just thought I’d share a postcard I saw on PostSecret recently. It’s like I wrote it.
PS. MORE than upset about Philip being kicked off of SYTYCD… what were they thinking?!? More about this later…
Alright so.. to start off.. I didn’t end up trying out for SYTYCD season 6 because realistically there wasn’t enough time for me to put together a good enough routine. That said, let’s move on to season 5.
The top 20 performed for the first time this week and let me just say that the dancers are all amazing in my opinion. My early favorites are Philip, Jeanine, Kayla, and Max. My prediction for the winner however is Philip. He is just so much fun to watch dance and literally gives me goosebumps. His hip hop routine with Jeanine this week to Ne-yo’s “Mad”, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon, was jaw-dropping and my favorite dance of the night. Do you agree?
So it’s been awhile since I’ve last really updated, but I figured it was time now that DWTS is over. :[ Shawn Johnson and her partner Mark Ballas were declared the winners of the season, with Gilles & Cheryl finishing 2nd and Melissa & Tony in 3rd. To be honest, I wasn't really upset that Melissa got 3rd because as you all know I have been routing for Gilles the whole time. So, you could imagine how shocked/upset I was when I found out that Gilles was not the winner. Although the separation between 1st and 2nd place was less than 1% of the total votes, I still believe Gilles deserved the trophy in the end, because the total of all his scores from the judges was the highest out of all the contestants.
This however does not take away from the fact that Shawn is also amazing and I was sort of happy to see her win as well. She had grown so much throughout the season, was always very precise, and worked just as hard as everyone else to earn her win. She also did have the best freestyle dance by FAR in the last night of competition. See for yourself:
On another note, So You Think You Can Dance is now back! Season 5! I watched the auditions that aired on Thursday and there are a lot of awesome dancers this season. I’m also interested to see if the people who had previously made it to Vegas week of tryouts and got cut and then tried out again this season will make it further this time. Props to them if they do, that’s awesome.
I also found out that Season 6 has been moved up and will be starting in the fall instead of next summer! Which is also awesome. Auditions are being held in BOSTON this coming Thursday.. and guess who’s trying out?? That’s right, yours truly. I’m totally not expecting to make it past the first round.. but I think it will be a great experience, something I can look back on. I’m trying out with a friend and we are choreographing a dance that works with both of our chosen styles of dance – hip hop (me) and jazz (her). This week will be crazy with working on the dance with so little time, but I will definitely keep updates!
So tonight we said goodbye to our favorite professor that is leaving. I knew it would be sad, but it sucked way more than I expected. I actually almost cried.. which may sound weird but he really made a big impact on my life and because of him I found the direction that I want to go in life in my future career. And that means more to me than you can imagine. I can’t even picture how next year will be without him there..
I also only have one real day left of my sophomore year. And I mean, don’t get me wrong, I cannot WAIT for summer, I need a break, but I’m sort of sad to leave actually. Which is really weird because everyone knows how much I complain about this school, but I really do have a soft spot for it in some weird way. I’m going to miss my friends and classmates and having the option of being able to go back there. But now I won’t be back until September which seems like forever.
This school year was extremely different than last year. It started off really rough, but honestly, even through all of the stress, this past semester was probably the best one I’ve had yet. I’m not even sure why.. it just was. I’ve become closer with the people in my major, and I can only hope that it will stay that way come next fall. I’m scared of falling back to square one, but I don’t think that will happen. I hate saying goodbye for the summer… but I’m so ready to reunite with my friends from home.
